Happy Father's Day, Frank!

Day 11  Happy Father’s Day, Frank!

Today for Father’s Day, we slept in and went to a nice worship service in the campground looking out over the Tetons.  As a side note, campgrounds have early risers (6-7am), sleepers (8-9am), and the Berrys (the first one up this morning was Nancy at 9:25am).  We hung out in the Lodge overlooking Lake Jackson for several hours sipping lattes, watching soccer on tv, and updating the blog -- just what we all needed.

We got Frank wildflower seeds for Father’s Day and the kids made him some funny and sweet cards.  We finally headed out for our hike around Jenny Lake about 2:30pm.  Which seems to work to our advantage – everyone else is coming down while we are heading up and we have the trail to ourselves all the way down.  We went to Hidden Falls and Inspiration Point, both cool, and then Frank and I went another mile back into Cascade Canyon where we saw the recent devastation of an avalanche – power!

On the way home, Frank said, “what I want for Father’s Day is… to eat at the restaurant… and watch basketball… and for the boys to do the “dump” of the RV black/gray water… and to take a shower before dinner… and…”  Unfortunately, it was a very windy day and the lodge, restaurant and entire campground were without power.  So, for Father’s Day, Frank grilled hamburgers for us over a very windy fire and, being too windy to eat outside, we set up a nice spread and ate in the camper.  It was delicious. Cell phones let us know that the Miami Heat won game 3.

He says “it was a GREAT Father’s Day!”  He is the BEST!

  1. Frank, please consider that you are lowering the Father's day standards for all.
