Day 13 HOT Zion and laundry
We got up early at the advice of our campground neighbors
and hit the first trail by 9am. Not
early enough! By 10:30 it was stifling
hot. Still, the views from the top of
Watchman’s Trail were pretty amazing and we were able to cool off with a visit
to the Weeping Rock – water literally coming out of the rock and creating
beautiful hanging gardens.

weeping rocks Brandt and Carter decided to test their mettle by doing the Hidden Canyon trail (one of about six that gives warnings about heights), while the rest of us went back to the lodge, leisurely hiked the Emerald Pool trail in the shade and rewarded ourselves with 8 inch tall ice cream cones in front of the Zion Lodge. When we got back to the campground, who was waiting for us but Brandt and Carter! They ended up not doing the entire 6 miles (it was 100 degrees today) and beat us back. Unfortunately for them, Frank had the keyNow, Frank and I are doing laundry while the kids white water float in the Virgin River right behind our campsite. Very refreshing, I imagine… |
We are all set for a big Mexican dinner out tonight. One clarification: Frank did NOT have an ice cream cone. He is saving his calories for the Mexican!
