Day 10
I woke up to the sounds of doors slamming as we were hustling at 7am to wake up. For once we were on the same schedule as the rest of the campground’s early risers. We were headed to the Grand Tetons, which are snowcapped mountains where it is surprisingly warmer than Yellowstone. Gin is the new favorite game of the trip as we have been playing it for hours at a time. As our game of Gin ended we looked out the window to see a moose cow, (In case you are confused that is a mom moose, NOT a cow that looks like a moose.) which was one of our many wildlife experiences.

We made our way to the campground and as soon as the tablecloth was on the picnic table we left for Teton outfitters. We went on a horseback trail ride up a mountain and it was obvious that it was tough on the horses. Even though they were huffing and puffing that was not the give away that they were working hard. It was that every step they took they farted, so if the horse in front of you was working hard you didn’t just have to look, you could smell and hear too! After Sandy, Squid, Jackson, Mouse, and Comanchero followed behind our trail guides, Cole and Lydia, we headed back to the waters of Jackson Lake at our campsite.

We all soon learned that renting a canoe and kayak was priceless (even though it did have a price) because of the view and tranquility of the Tetons right next to you as you paddle.

Rodeo sunset -- wow! |
We later went down to the town of Jackson to experience a
real rodeo. I took part in the calf scramble and after all the scrambling I
ended up grabbing the ribbon off the calf along with another boy so I gave it
to him since the age limit was 12 & under after all. We ended the day with
more bull riding, barrel racing, and saddle bronc. And, we all established that
when we retire we are all moving to Jackson.
